Children's Concerts
The Cape Community Orchestra’s mission is to bring music to our community. This includes a yearly concert programmed specifically for families and children.
Through these concerts, we hope to educate and enrich the lives of school age children by providing access to a live performance. Children and their responsible adults have the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of music that are best appreciated in person in a concert setting.
Past performances have introduced children to the instruments of the orchestra, from the familiar trumpet to the less familiar viola. Classical favorites such as Carnival of the Animals was performed to demonstrate the various instruments, and how their sounds can evoke different animals from the ponderous elephant to the squawking chickens. Familiar movie music such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and The Pink Panther demonstrate how music and motifs are used to introduce characters and/or situations.
We sincerely hope that our audiences, both young, old, and in-between can take away from the concerts the joy and satisfaction that we, the orchestra, experience in our performances. And, just maybe, encourage someone to learn an instrument and join us in making music.
