Honoring John Hagon’s 60th Year Conducting

In honor of John Hagon’s 60th year as a conductor, the Cape Community Orchestra presented him with a tree and plaque, planted at the organization’s rehearsal space, the Harwich Community Center.

The cherry tree was planted in May, after the announcement was made at the Orchestra’s final concert for the season.

The past season’s concert featured Aaron Copeland’s “Outdoor Overture”, which was the first piece John conducted, under the direction of Mr. Copland himself. This season was the first time John has revisited the piece since the concert 60 years ago.

The gift of a tree ties in with the outdoor theme of the composition, and serves as a landmark for all John has done for the Cape Cod music community.
